Yeah I know I've only been back 2 minutes but itchy feet don't scratch themselves...

I'm heading to New Zealand but it would be rude not to have a week in the Cook Islands along the way... |
Spending a couple of days here to help out some of those beach dogs and cats.... |
This trip is going to be a bit different - nearly 4 months in New Zealand - over a hundred days will be spent hiking (or tramping as they call it here) covering nearly 2000 km!
The main part of the time will be walking from Bluff in the far south to Ship Cove where the South Island meets the North - this is along a pathway called Te Araroa (Maori for The Long Pathway) The path also crosses the whole of the North Island but I'll just be walking sections of that route.
Along the way I will be taking in 5 of New Zealand's Great Walks - Routeburn, Kepler, Heaphy, Abel Tasman and the Tongariro Northern Circuit
As you can see below there are a lot of stops along the way !

It''ll be tough but the views will be worth it!!

These are the iconic signposts - above at Bluff on the tip of the South Island and below at Cape Reinga at the tip of the North |
Quite a few nights will be spent like this...!
And quite a few days like this! |
After New Zealand I'm heading to Tasmania for some well earned rest on the amazing beaches....
No walking - it''ll be 4 wheels to see Tassie! |
Returning at the end of March - hoping to see some of this when I arrive back!
